Our Mission
We’re on a mission to create a more equitable society by preparing our scholars to #ChangeTheWorld
OUR VISION
At Riverbend Prep, we know that our students will one day change the world as the next generation of policymakers, barrier breakers, caretakers, and innovators. It is our responsibility to arm our students with all the skills and resources they will need to make the world a better place.
CORE VALUES
Riverbend Prep has a responsibility to develop the WHOLE CHILD. Academics and social-emotional learning are equally important.
Our methodologies are CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE. We honor and celebrate our diverse community and strategically select curriculum and programs that best serve them.
Students should understand WHY education is important and how it directly benefits them.
RIverbend Prep philosophy:
• All students, regardless of race, socio-economic status, or intellectual ability, are entitled to receive a quality public education which prepares them to meet the challenges of higher education to the best of their abilities.
• Schools should utilize proven, research-based educational programs as part of a toolkit of best practices as they impart basic skills, particularly in reading, writing, and mathematics. But the mastery of basic skills, while essential to student success, is insufficient to promote success in demanding high school and university coursework; elementary and middle school students must also master challenging content in the humanities, the sciences, and the social sciences to achieve success in high school, college, and adult life.
• Students must be exposed to their local communities and their world's ethnic and cultural diversity to participate fully in the global economy of the 21st century.
• Students learn in different ways, and schools and teachers must tailor instructional delivery to engage different learning styles and ways of knowing. Constructivist teaching practices, project-based learning, and the Socratic method are valuable tools in these efforts.
